Welcome to Teach It Out! A blog dedicated to encouraging teachers, families and educators to teach outside the classroom walls and to bring the outside world into their learning spaces in authentic ways!  My name is Katie. I’m dually certified in general education and special education and I’ve been teaching in Brooklyn since 2011.  I’ve spent most of my career teaching grades 1-3 and have focused on finding ways to create engaging learning spaces for my students by relating our content to real world contexts.

Our purpose is to 

• inspire educators to feel confident in teaching students in real world locations by focusing on the nuts and bolts of planning, facilitating and debriefing field visits that extend learning from the classroom.
• encourage educators to bring real world experiences into their classroom, utilizing field experts, artifacts and more.
